Marcie
A
native of South Florida, Marcie received her Master’s degree in Art
Education from Florida International University.
After
teaching for 6 years in Dade County Public Schools as a Magnet Art
Teacher, Marcie left teaching in 1998 to start a family and continue her
love of painting.
She
has exhibited locally for the past 13 years and in 1999 won 1st
place in two-dimensional artwork at the Cultural Councils annual juried
art show (Saturday & Sunday in the Park with Art) at Fairchild
Tropical Gardens. Her most recent showing was at the Wallflower Gallery in
downtown Miami.
Drawing
from the natural world, Marcie is best known for exploring the design
elements of light and texture. Professing
a love of elements and images local to the subtropics she states, “I
can find something exciting and dynamic in even the simplest objects. To see light filter in through a canopy or to run your
fingers over the bark of a coconut tree… those are the things that
inspire me”.
