Dear Parents and Students,
Again I am amazed and impressed by the dedication that the drawing students are
demonstrating. I have already had two inquiries about the self-portrait due the
first day of class. I had intended to send out more information midsummer but
this group likes their information way in advance and I am happy to oblige. We
are going to have a fantastic class next year!
On the first page of the sketchbook each student should draw a self-portrait.
This is to include the head, neck and top of the shoulders and be done from
observation (i.e. looking in a mirror). This drawing is a reference and will
only be used to gauge the student's level of drawing ability prior to our
drawing class. It is for comparison purposes only. Please do not let any of the
students become stressed by this assignment. We will not be showing the rest of
the class our drawings on the first day. Students should note the total time
spent on the drawing on the back of the page (minimum of 45 minutes).
On a separate topic, I have been contacted by a parent who has found an almost
identical drawing board at A.C. Moore for $12.56. If you are one of the
recipients of their mailers, they offer a 40% off coupon fairly regularly. This
should bring the total cost to just under $8. I am still happy to order from my
supplier for $10 each but wanted to let you know of this opportunity.
If anyone would like further clarification on this or anything else please
contact me. I will post a copy of these updates on my class website:

Have a blessed summer.
Regards,
